Tate’s award-winning RMG600+ raised access floor panel is leading the way for sustainable floor design in commercial spaces. Combining verified performance with a high recycled content, lower embodied carbon (LEC), and high-quality aesthetics, the RMG600+ is becoming the floor panel of choice for projects targeting top sustainability (BREEAM, LEED etc) ratings. Backed by independent certification, the RMG600+ helps architects and developers meet demanding project goals without compromise on quality or style.
One of the most interesting trends in recent years has been a shift in the sustainability assessments towards rewarding building projects that prioritise lower embodied carbon (LEC) products.
The shift reflects a growing realisation that the bulk of built environment carbon emissions will soon come from embodied carbon in materials and construction, as opposed to those emissions from a building’s operational energy use (heating, electricity etc).
Tate's market-leading LEC range includes the award-winning RMG600+ raised access floor panel which has helped lead the way for access floors.
The RMG600+ is a floor panel with transparently lower embodied carbon content, backed by a third-party verified EN 15804+A2 EPD (Environmental Product Declaration). The EPD certification can be used as part of a building project’s Lifecycle Analysis and as a result, help achieve the standards demanded by environmental assessment ratings such as BREEAM and LEED - potentially helping to secure the highest ratings for a project going forward.
But the RMG600+ offers so much more than just outstanding sustainability ratings. It delivers high-end aesthetics, as well as uncompromising performance, and longevity and is therefore the flooring of choice for prestigious projects.
Why is RMG600+ in Demand as a LEC Flooring?
The RMG600+ has a fully encapsulated panel that includes a wraparound steel top and a steel base plate, bonded with adhesive and mechanically stitched around a particle board core for greater strength and durability.
It is the ideal flooring for demanding commercial office environments, which feature lower embodied carbon products and high-functioning solutions.
As with all Tate’s raised access floors, the performance data for the RMG600+ panel is fully certified with verified environmental credentials and production claims backed by independent certifications and industry standards. These include:
- RMG600+ Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) (713.3KB)
- RMG600+ Material Passport (577.4KB)
- RMG600+ FSC Certificate (1762.7KB)
The panels are Cradle to Cradle Silver certified, number 7236. Cradle to Cradle is the world’s most advanced science-based programme for materials and products that are safe, circular, and responsibly made.
These certifications, along with the RMG600+’s One Click LCA Low Carbon Manufacturing Award (One Click LCA Low Carbon Manufacturing Awards 2024) underpin trust and confidence in our product claims, while also highlighting the floor’s future circularity potential. Its installation in Aldi’s distribution centre and Highmark in Dublin has delivered defined, measurable carbon savings.
The RMG600+ panel has been independently performance tested to PSA: 2021 Medium Grade and is offered with a 25-year warranty.
Supporting the Building Industry Transition to LEC
We are determined to support the building industry as it transitions towards a lower carbon future. Our LEC flooring products will help lay the groundwork for a more sustainable, resilient built environment for generations to come.
[Note: Tate is also part of the Kingspan Data Solutions division within the Kingspan Group, and we are fully committed to the Group’s Planet Passionate initiative which focuses on three major areas: climate change, circularity, and the protection of the natural world. We are now five years into our Planet Passionate journey and incredibly proud of the progress it has delivered.
