Our 2025 Planet Passionate report shows great progress towards our global sustainability goals. As part of Kingspan Group’s Planet Passionate initiative, our flooring unit in Hull, UK, continues to drive meaningful change in how raised access flooring systems are made, used, and reused.
Planet Passionate is our global sustainability programme, focused on improving climate change, circularity, and protection of the natural world. Tate plays a key part in achieving these goals through renewable energy, waste reduction, and intelligent product design.
Here’s how our flooring unit in Hull, UK is contributing to our sustainability goals:
Renewable Energy
In 2025, 97% of our total energy use came from direct renewable sources, far surpassing our original target of 35%. Even more impressively, 48% of our energy was generated onsite in Hull, making us the top-performing site in the division for onsite renewable generation. These achievements demonstrate our commitment to reducing reliance on non-renewable sources and strengthening our energy independence.
Carbon
Our energy-related greenhouse gas emissions totalled just 46 tCO₂e in 2025, keeping Tate Hull below our full-year target of 50 tCO₂e. This represents a 79% reduction compared with 2020, when emissions were 218 tCO₂e. This significant decrease reflects the effectiveness of our sustainability strategy and shows how investments in renewable energy, efficiency improvements, and smarter operations are delivering long-lasting results.
Water
Our water-saving efforts made a real impact in 2025, as we captured 130,000 litres of rainwater, equivalent to 18% of our total onsite water consumption. This not only eased pressure on local resources but also strengthened our resilience in the face of changing climate conditions.
Waste to Landfill
We also reached a major milestone in our waste performance this year: a 100% reduction in waste sent to landfill from our Hull manufacturing facility. Through improved segregation, increased recycling, and stronger partnerships with waste management providers, all manufacturing waste was successfully diverted from landfill.
