Tate’s award-winning RMG600+ raised access floor panel is leading the way for sustainable floor design in commercial spaces. Combining verified performance with a high recycled content, lower embodied carbon (LEC), and high-quality aesthetics, the RMG600+ is becoming the floor panel of choice for Australian projects targeting top sustainability ratings, including Green Star, NABERS Embodied Carbon and, for internationally benchmarked developments, LEED. Backed by independent certification, the RMG600+ helps architects and developers meet demanding project goals without compromise on quality or style.
One of the most interesting trends in recent years has been a shift in the sustainability assessments towards rewarding building projects that prioritise lower embodied carbon (LEC) products.
The shift reflects a growing realisation that the bulk of built environment carbon emissions will soon come from embodied carbon in materials and construction, as opposed to those emissions from a building’s operational energy use (heating, electricity, etc).
Tate's market-leading LEC range includes the award-winning RMG600+ raised access floor panel, which has helped lead the way for access floors.
The RMG600+ is a floor panel with transparently lower embodied carbon content, backed by a third-party verified EN 15804+A2 Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), registered through EPD Australasia for local recognition. The EPD can be used as part of a building project's Life Cycle Assessment and, as a result, help meet the standards demanded by Australian environmental assessment ratings such as Green Star and NABERS Embodied Carbon, helping secure a stronger rating outcome for the project.
But the RMG600+ offers so much more than just outstanding sustainability ratings. It delivers high-end aesthetics, as well as uncompromising performance and longevity and is therefore the flooring of choice for prestigious projects.
How Does RMG600+ Achieve a Lower Embodied Carbon Rating?
The RMG600+ has a fully encapsulated panel that includes a wraparound steel top and a steel base plate, bonded with adhesive and mechanically stitched around a particle board core for greater strength and durability.
It is the ideal flooring for demanding commercial office environments requiring low embodied carbon and high-performing solutions.
These claims are backed by:
- A third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), registered through EPD Australasia.
- A Material Passport, published alongside the EPD, setting out the panel's material composition and future circularity potential.
- Cradle to Cradle Silver certification (number 7236), a scheme recognised under Green Star's Responsible Products Program.
- The One Click LCA Low Carbon Manufacturing Award, in recognition of the panel's verified carbon performance.
Together, these give architects, engineers and sustainability consultants a verifiable basis for specifying RMG600+ on projects targeting Green Star or NABERS Embodied Carbon outcomes. The panel has already delivered measurable carbon savings in real-world projects, including Aldi's UK distribution centre, and is independently performance tested to PSA:2021 Medium Grade with a 25-year warranty.
How RMG600+ Supports Green Star and NABERS Ratings in Australia
Green Star, the Green Building Council of Australia's (GBCA) national rating system, recognises verified EPDs through its Responsible Products Program. From December 2025, GBCA increased the Responsible Product Value (RPV) contribution for product-specific EPDs registered through EPD Australasia, from 5 to 7 RPV points, a sign of the growing weight placed on transparent, third-party-verified carbon data. RMG600+ currently carries a 17 RPV contribution under Green Star, combining its EPD with its recycled content and Cradle to Cradle certification.
NABERS Embodied Carbon, Australia's national embodied carbon rating tool, assesses a building's whole-of-life carbon footprint using verified product data such as EPDs. Specifying RMG600+ gives project teams a verified data point to feed into that assessment, rather than relying on industry-average figures.
Responsible sourcing, including the use of recycled or reused materials, is also a key requirement. These principles are reflected in the LEC RMG600+ floor panels, whose design and construction support Green Star's and NABERS' decarbonisation and circular economy goals.
