Strategic Accounts Director, AMER

Eoghan Byrne

Eoghan Byrne's career at Tate is defined by momentum, both geographically and professionally. Since joining the business in Ireland, he has taken on two international relocations, first to Canada as a Senior Project Manager, where he progressed quickly into an Assistant General Manager role, and then to the U.S., where he now serves as Strategic Accounts Director. In his current role, he works closely with some of Tate's most strategic customers, supporting complex, high-value data center programs across the U.S.

Across these moves, Eoghan has built experience across project delivery, operations, and commercial leadership, giving him a well-rounded perspective on how Tate delivers for its customers at scale.

His journey reflects the kind of accelerated development available within Tate for individuals willing to step into new environments, take on broader responsibility, and grow through challenge.

We spoke to Eoghan about what drove those moves, how he approached each transition, and what he's learned along the way.

What led you to take on a new role in a new location?

It was a combination of progression and opportunity. I've always been very career-focused, and this move opened up a clear path toward senior management with strong growth ahead of me.

What really stood out was the exposure. I wasn't just stepping into a single function, I was gaining experience across installation, sales, and operations. That kind of breadth is invaluable.

At the same time, I wanted the opportunity to travel and experience something new. Being able to do that while accelerating my career made it an easy decision.

How did you prepare for relocating and stepping into a new position at the same time?

I've always been one to jump in with 2 feet.

When you relocate, everything is new, everything is challenging, but that's also what makes it exciting.

Having gone through it twice, I've learned how important it is to build both your work life and your personal life at the same time. On the social side, reaching out ahead of the move and tapping into any existing network makes a big difference in settling in.

That's what really helped me adjust. Moving with work can be exciting, but having a balance between work and home life is crucial in a new location. From a work perspective, it's about closing out your previous role properly so you can give your full attention to what's ahead. You don't want to be split across two roles, you want to start strong and be fully focused on the new opportunity.

What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge was stepping into roles with significantly more responsibility and higher expectations each time. That brings a steep learning curve, and naturally, some questions around confidence.

What helped was recognizing that if you're being put forward for an opportunity like that, particularly by leadership within the business, it's because they see your potential.

Even if you feel like you're stretching into the new role, the people around you already believe you can do it. Learning to trust that and grow into the position was a key part of the experience.

What new skills, responsibilities, or experiences have you gained in your new role?

The breadth of experience has been huge. Moving into different regions and roles exposes you to entirely new ways of operating, different customer expectations, and deeper levels of technical expertise. You get a different lens that you can look through.

You develop both technically and personally. You're building a broader understanding of the business while also strengthening how you communicate, lead, and adapt.

That combination, technical depth and soft skills, is what really helps round out your overall capability.
